Good News & Terrible News

The good news is that we are on the ballot for NepaliAustralian’s the ‘Most Diverse Blog’ award. Please vote for us here. All you have to do is write a comment in the comment section, the entry will only be available to her. We won the award two years ago thanks to all of you, our supporters! We see some of our other friends have been nominated in other categories too (please vote for them too)!

The bad news. Did you guys read this article about Nepali children being sold as slaves to the UK? Thanks to The Guardian for publishing it. I have a lot of angry and hate towards adults who use children to earn money, people who don’t see innocent children as children, but as commodities that they can use. I also don’t understand people who buy people (including buying adults) and abuse them. How can they feel good about themselves? I am really saddened and angry after reading that article. It sure didn’t make my Monday morning sunny.

  1. What a terrible news and tragedy. Poor kids who are already in such a unthinkably state are now going to another tragedy in their short life. I hope British government will step in and take control of the situation. I hope Nepali government is reading this news so they can open the eyes can do something about it rather than fighting about power and planning to to increase their personal bank balance.

  2. I saw it being posted somewhere in Facebook yesterday but didn’t have the time to read it. I will find it and read it. The story sounds incredibly disappointing.. In my opinion, people who abuse or take advantage of children are one of the worst type of criminals.

  3. Governments must not allow the commodification of children. Please read the UN report on child exploitation coming out of Japan. There is a link in my latest blog post on The Six Foot Bonsai site.
