I am so happy to announce that we are starting a new monthly series called Nepali Women of the Now. Every month, we will feature an interview with a Nepali woman (or women in this case) that we admire. I wanted to start this because I wanted to highlight the awesome things Nepali women are doing around the world. I wanted to recognize individuals for their creativity, their hard work, their compassion, their strength, and so much more. I wanted to showcase that ordinary people can do extraordinary things and you don’t have to be famous to be a role model.   This month, I talked to Itisha Giri and Bhrikuti Rai from the badass podcast Boju Bajai. I highly recommend you listen to them if you haven’t already.

There are a lot of reasons why I love this podcast. Both these ladies are not afraid to share their opinions, they are not afraid to get personal, and they are very funny. It’s really refreshing to hear their honesty and hear other Nepali women who share similar opinions to my own. I won’t speak for all Nepali people, but I am so thankful you guys have created this, because we definitely needed it.  Am I correct in saying this is the first podcast spear headed by Nepali women? If so, yay to you guys!!!

Boju Bajai just celebrated their first anniversary and in their first year, they’ve covered many topics relating to women including body hair, slut shamming, sexual assault, dreaded questions you get from aunties, body shaming, and much more. They’ve had more than 17,000 listeners and continue to grow. I’m always anxiously waiting for the next episode. For this interview, they were kind enough to record their answers for me instead of typing them out. Please have a listen below.

Thanks ladies for being our first interview in this series! Wishing you all the success in the world.  Can’t wait to hear what you have in store for us fans.

**So, what’d you think of this new series? Let me know the Nepali women you admire and I will interview them! We will be posting interviews the 1st day of every month.

I am so glad to have found Boju Bajai through your post Richa. The podcasts are so relatable and both of them are amazing. I grew up adoring Itisha di in school because she went to the same school and she was our role model back then and now to hear her in a Podcast is so surreal. 🙂
